Missouri Valley School Board Names Christi Gochenour Next District Superintendent

MISSOURI VALLEY, IA — The Missouri Valley Community School District School Board has named Christi Gochenour as the school district’s next superintendent.

Gochenour is the secondary principal in the Logan-Magnolia Community School District, where she has led the development and implementation of the school’s vision of learning, promoted safe and effective learning environments, and provided a vision for district-wide professional development. She has also established systems of support for special education staff and established high professional standards for all staff.

Previously, Gochenour was a school improvement and professional development consultant for the Green Hills AEA. She has also served as an adjunct instructor at Morningside College and is a member of the Executive Council for the School Administrators of Iowa. She is also a member of the American Association of Secondary Principals and the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development.

Gochenour holds an Ed.S. degree in educational administration from Doane University, a master’s degree in educational administration from Northwest Missouri State University, and a bachelor’s degree in K-8 education from the University of Nebraska-Omaha.

Gochenour is a long-time member of the Missouri Valley community. She is married to Rich Gochenour, a Missouri Valley alum, and has three children, Ryan, Danielle, and Hannah.

The Board of Education has worked with Grundmeyer Leader Services to conduct the superintendent search. The process has included a community-wide survey, asking district residents to provide their input on the qualities and characteristics they would like to see in the district’s next leader. The board conducted interviews with the three finalists on March 31.

Gochenour will officially begin serving as superintendent of the Missouri Valley Community School District on July 1, 2022.
